Love One Another Until The Whole World Knows (2021)
Documentary Film / 92 min
OVERVIEW
A handful of individuals strive to authentically discover and live out the commandments of Jesus and the Bible: to Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples. This collection of Jesus followers navigates their personal journeys in a way that informs, challenges, and encourages other believers to intentionally reproduce disciples, churches, and movements.
They are discovering that living as Jesus did changes your life. Barry, the preacher, needs to see how this works for himself. Alex and Morgan learn how to live out disciple-making principles themselves as they connect and support other practitioners around the world. Amanda shares her powerful transformational story and shows that God still moves in miraculous ways. And Becky and others in Tampa, Florida, share what they’ve learned—and how they’ll never be the same.
They are just a snapshot of what has become a global phenomenon. Telling their slice of the larger story gives the audience a vision of how North American Christians can LOVE ONE ANOTHER UNTIL THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS.
PRODUCTION EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND
In 2020, filmmaker J. Matt Wallace was asked to consider making a video or film about the disciple-making movement ministry happening in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. After agreeing to film a few initial interviews, the journey towards creating a documentary film began as Matt started seeing a possible path for going beyond a series of “talking head” interviews.
Wallace made it clear from the beginning that “it’s very difficult to create something that is feature length and watchable while only using a bunch of talking heads.” This initial concern about producing a watchable 90-minute film based mostly on interviews never completely went away. The desire to honor the content and the lives depicted drove every interview, as Matt strove to make them as engaging as possible. He developed new plans and he discovered creative ways to include people from outside the Tampa-based ministry who shared the same values and approaches. As it all came together, the idea of a documentary film eventually became more plausible. By late 2020, the final vision was established, though many obstacles would still need to be overcome.
After many miles of driving and crazy amounts of editing of the many hours of footage—14 months after the project began—the 92-minute documentary film LOVE ONE ANOTHER UNTIL THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS (aka LOVE ONE ANOTHER or L1A) is scheduled for release. The film will be initially shown to private audiences in selected theaters across the U.S. Later in the fall of 2021, the film will be available to the public on a new website being developed: LoveOneAnother.life. This site will provide materials and encouragement to anyone looking to make disciples that will make disciples. The film will be accessible online, and viewers will be encouraged to gather in groups to engage this film. The producers hope for it to be a catalyst for groups of people to discuss how they can engage in disciple- making movements and commit to obedience to Jesus’ call to follow his commands and go into all the world to make disciples.
LOVE ONE ANOTHER UNTIL THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS was produced by 1BODY CHURCH, BIGLIFE, MUSTANG INTERNATIONAL in association with 24:14 COALITION, EYES ON ME, INTERNATIONAL COVERED MINISTRIES, and METACAMP.

TARGET AUDIENCES
Even though LOVE ONE ANOTHER UNTIL THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS is clearly a Christian film focused on sharing the love of Christ with the entire world, this 92-minute documentary film is not evangelistic. This project is crafted specifically for a Christian audience: individuals who are already interested in pursing God’s Great Commission. This film is intended to challenge existing paradigms of Christian life and the church, particularly in regard to how best to reach the world. LOVE ONE
ANOTHER is a collection of interviews and individual faith journeys of people sprinkled across Florida, Texas, and other parts of the United States. The stories are woven together so that the audience comes away with a practical glimpse of how to make disciples who will make more disciples.
We do not recommend showing this film to those who don’t currently follow Jesus Christ in the hopes that it will clearly reveal his message of salvation. This film is best suited for people who are curious about, familiar, or committed to disciple-making movement (DMM) and church-planting movement (CPM) principles. This film will motivate those who are trying to figure out how these principles and put them to work in their personal lives.
